SSDC Repack Department Makes History with Scan Selection Go-Live

On Tuesday, May 20th, GSC made history.

For the first time ever, product selection in the SSDC Repack area was completed without a single item label. That’s right—our team took a giant leap forward by going fully digital with scan selection.

This achievement was the result of a two-week implementation effort that began on Monday, May 13th. Progress was gradual, with teams ramping up usage and working through real-time challenges—culminating in 100% usage by Tuesday, May 20th.

This transition represents more than just a system upgrade. Moving from paper to a real-time, digital process is like landing on the moon: complicated, full of moving parts, and only possible through patience, perseverance, and tight coordination.

The SSDC Repack team delivered. They pushed through long hours, learned quickly, and adapted under pressure. Meanwhile, the IT teams worked behind the scenes to address performance issues as the system scaled to support its largest number of simultaneous users yet. There’s still system performance tuning to be done, but the hard part is behind us.
