GSC Raises $75,000 For Groups Serving Hopkins County Children

Article From: Sulphur Springs News-Telegram

Sept 26, 2007 - As if creating jobs and pouring untold numbers of dollars into the local economy wasn't enough, GSC Enterprises has again done something to remind people why it's a blessing the company is based in Sulphur Springs.

GSC's 19th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament was held Wednesday, Sept. 19, at The Tribute Golf Club at The Colony, located north of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, where 150 players competed for various prizes at the popular links designed after notable golf courses in Scotland. But the real winners of the event were the children of Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County. GSC, through the generosity of its business trading partners, raised $75,000 for six local foundations and agencies serving youngsters in Hopkins County. Steve Shing, GSC Vice President of Marketing and Trade Relations and Tournament Chairman, acknowledged each agency and foundation during the award presentation for providing assistance to the families of Hopkins County. GSC Enterprises Inc. Chairman Mickey McKenzie reaffirmed the company's commitment to support the local agencies and foundations that serve the community and presented the checks to the agency representatives.

The six agencies sharing the proceeds are:
Make A Wish Foundation of North Texas
Lake Country CASA
Boys and Girls Club of Sulphur Springs
Hopkins County Community Chest
North East Texas Child Advocacy Center
GSC Employee Scholarship Program

GSC Vice President Ryan McKenzie presented trophies to the winners and thanked all sponsors and participants for "helping us help others." A full 135 companies located throughout the United States participated in the tournament, either by player and/or hole sponsorships, including four local companies: Alliance Bank, KSST/Channel 18, the Law Office of James W. Litzler, and Copy Products/CPI Imaging Inc. GSC has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity since the first benefit golf tournament was held in San Antonio in 1988. GSC moved the tournament to the Dallas-Fort Worth area six years ago to increase the overall participation and to direct the proceeds to agencies and foundations in the Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County area. GSC has donated a total of $395,000 to local agencies as a result of tournaments the last five years.
